7.1 How Do I...

How do I create thumbnails?

Step 1: set the canvas size to the size of the thumbnail you wish to create. Use the Canvas Resize icon ToolBarButtons_resize.jpg (1284 bytes) to access the canvas resize settings. Use the Width and Height Edit Controls to enter your thumbnail dimensions such as 64 x 64 or whatever you like. Note: you don't have to type enter in the edit control. Click OK or Apply to see the canvas resize results.

Step 2: if you want to create thumbnails for your entire image list, proceed to Step 3. If you only want thumbnails for a select group of photos or images, click on the erase image list icon ToolBarButtons_eraselist.jpg (1391 bytes) to clear your current image list. Use the add image icon ToolBarButtons_addimg.jpg (1508 bytes) to select just the images you want in your image list. Note: use the SHIFT+CTRL keys to select multiple image files. You can repeat this operation moving from directory to directory until you are done.

Step 3: click on the canvas layout icon ToolBarButtons_canvasoptions.jpg (1434 bytes) to set the root name and file type (BMP or JPG) for your thumbnails.

Step 4: click on the snapshot image list icon ToolBarButtons_autosnap.jpg (1525 bytes). This button will automatically snapshot your entire image list to disk creating your thumbnails based on your canvas layout settings.

How do I create contact sheets?

Step 1: click on the canvas layout icon ToolBarButtons_canvasoptions.jpg (1434 bytes) and check the contact sheet box. This will automatically set the photos per page to 16 and turn on photo captions. You may alter this setting to add more photos per page, page titles etc. That's it!

How do I create calendars?

Step1: click on the calendar maker icon and select the calendar layout and type of date settings you want.

Step 2: click on the Draw to Canvas button to redraw your calendar to the canvas. From here, you can print the calendar canvas or save it to disk. Note: if you want a sharp calendar image when printing, you must set your canvas to a higher resolution setting such as 2048 x 1536 or higher if you're making a calendar poster.

How do I frame my photos?

Step 1: if you want to wrap a frame around your individual photos regardless of size, click on the canvas layout icon ToolBarButtons_canvasoptions.jpg (1434 bytes) and check the box Stretch Canvas to Photo. Note: make sure photos per page is set to 1 or this check box will be "grayed out".

Step 2: click on the frame setup icon ToolBarButtons_frame.jpg (1289 bytes) to select the frame you want to use. Note: if you are not a registered user you will only be allowed to select the default frame.

How do I resize a group of photos?

(see the instruction for creating Thumbnails and simply change the dimensions to match the size you want.)

Note: you can force the dimensions of each image to a desired width or height by clicking on the stretch photo to canvas option. In this case, you photo will be stretched or compressed to prevent the width or height from exceeding your canvas settings. This is great for e-mails where you don't want the photos to exceed a certain size.

How do I change output File formats?

Step 1: click on the canvas layout icon ToolBarButtons_canvasoptions.jpg (1434 bytes) to set the file type to BMP or JPG.

How do I get updates to PhotoMazing?

Step 1: check the main web site www.ob1gui.com and note the version number just underneath the PhotoMazing box graphic. If the version number of PhotoMazing is higher than the one you have installed, download the version from the web site and install it. This will have no effect on your current registration status.
